Lawrence Rudner, Engineer, Master Mariner

Lawrence Rudner is a former professor and retired aerospace engineer.  He completed his undergraduate engineering studies at Purdue University, and earned his advanced electrical engineering degree at the University of Memphis.  He also holds a master mariner certification and is a recognized authority on celestial navigation.

Through his work in advanced satellite design, the propulsion equipment on the Apollo Moon program, and some of the free world’s most advanced military aircraft propulsion systems, he has acquired a unique appreciation for the trials and tribulations of the early maritime explorers, and the importance of their accomplishments.

Captain Rudner has traveled the world, including all seven continents, seeking otherwise unavailable information about the world changing people and places of 15th and 16th century history.  He has traversed the Panama Canal over 50 times, passed around Cape Horn on 14 occasions (8 eastbound – the hard way – and 6 westbound), and circumnavigated the continent of South America.
