Christopher Whelan, Ph.D., Lawyer, World Affairs Expert

Dr. Christopher Whelan is currently an academic and practicing lawyer in the UK, US, and Germany. In the United Kingdom, he is associate director of International Law Programs and a member of the faculty of law at the University of Oxford. He is also a barrister (specializing in employment law) at Three Paper Buildings in London. In the United States, he is professor of law at Washington & Lee University in Virginia, where he teaches every spring semester. In Germany, he is an occasional lecturer at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg.

Previously, Dr. Whelan has visited at the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of South Carolina (where he held the Senator Strom Thurmond Distinguished Visitor Chair), the University of Warwick (UK), and the Ohio State University. He was Francis Lewis Scholar-in-Residence at Washington & Lee University in 2005. 
Dr. Whelan’s law degree and PhD are both from the London School of Economics. He has over 65 publications on a wide variety of national, international, and comparative law topics. Dr. Whelan is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
