Joanne Ferraro, Ph. D., Historian
Dr. Joanne Ferraro is a historian of Europe who has published books with Cambridge, Oxford, and Johns Hopkins. Dr. Ferraro, a member of the American Historical Association, has won research fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Council of Learned Societies. Ferraro is the author of the widely acclaimed Venice: History of the Floating City, published in 2012. Dr. Ferraro has lived in Europe for extensive periods. Winner of San Diego State University's Times Outstanding Teacher award, she has taught European history for 27 years. Her courses have covered ancient Greece and Rome, medieval and Renaissance Europe, and northern Europe. She is Professor and Chair of History at San Diego State University.
