Harvey Broadbent, Historian, Writer, Film Producer
Harvey Broadbent is a well-known writer, lecturer, broadcaster, film and TV producer. He is presently Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Modern History at Macquarie University, Australia, directing the Gallipoli Centenary Research Project, centred on Turkish military archives and the Gallipoli Campaign, for which he is an acknowledged expert. He is the author of the recently-published Gallipoli, The Fatal Shore, which marked the 90th anniversary of that campaign and a fluent speaker of Turkish. An experienced lecturer and study tour group leader, Harvey has led tours around the world for Australians Studying Abroad. As an executive producer for the ABC he won awards for radio and TV productions such as Gallipoli, the Fatal Shore; Victory in the Pacific; The 75th Anniversary Gallipoli Pilgrimage; and Quantum.
He recently worked as historical advisor on a documentary film Revealing Gallipoli and the ABC’s interactive web-site, Gallipoli, The First Day.
