Lawrence D’Almeida grew up in Paris, France, and was educated John Cabot International College in Rome, at Yale College and Harvard University.  One of his four reading subjects at Harvard was Italian Medieval History.

After working for an Italian Art Publishing company in Milano (Electa) and becoming the European agent of the Medieval and Renaissance music ensemble The Boston Camerata, Lawrence finally took the wine plunge, first working in the wine distribution and retail sectors in Miami, Florida, before moving back to his adopted Italy to learn winemaking at Kendall-Jackson's Chianti Classico estate, Tenuta di Arceno, in the heart of Tuscany.

From 1998 until 2006, Lawrence was the winemaker and director of the boutique Chianti Classico winery Villa Casale. He is currently a Wine Production Consultant, Winemaking and Tasting guide, as well as cultural and historical guide throughout Italy. Lawrence is fluent in English, French, Italian, Spanish, and German. He lives in Florence.
