John Freedman, Destination Expert

Dr. John Freedman is a passionate world traveler and highly experienced Lecturer and Tour Manager who has explored over 100 countries on seven continents. He has led numerous educational travel programs throughout the world sponsored by a variety of organizations including National Geographic Expeditions, World Leaders Travel, Smithsonian Journeys, Stanford Travel/Study, Yale Alumni Association, High Country Passage, Medical Exchange International, U.S. Exchanges, American Museum of Natural History Discovery Tours, National Trust Tours, the World Affairs Council, and others.

John is a lifelong adventurer who has climbed Kilimanjaro, rafted the Zambezi, and trekked the Himalayas. He has chaired medical symposia in Cuba, toured North Korea, and lectured on sake in Japan.  Dr. Freedman earned a B.A in Literature at Brown University and an M.D. at Yale Medical School. He is also a certified graduate of the International Tour Management Institute. He makes his home in Santa Rosa, California, where he is a practicing physician and President of Medical Exchange International, a non-profit charity dedicated to international health care collaboration.

An avid photographer, John brings destinations alive both as a trip leader and as a lecturer with his enthusiasm, his intellectual energy, and his ability to respectfully share his fund of knowledge and underscore important historical and cultural themes that enrich understanding of each locale and its people.
