Martin Aronson, Civil Trial Lawyer, Lecturer

Martin Aronson is a litigator in Boston with vast experience as a civil trial lawyer, having tried countless cases before juries in Massachusetts.  He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Boston College Law School.  He was  managing partner of a Boston firm, White, Inker, Aronson, PC, until 2001.

Courtroom Cinema, an interactive, fun and enriching Silversea program explores the rich and dramatic genre of films with legal themes. Presented by Marty Aronson, it explores Hollywood’s depiction of trial lawyers and the legal system in action, including reality vs. stereotype, societal issues raised by the films, and cinematic treatment of the themes of justice, fairness, and right vs. wrong.

The program includes four full-length cinema classics, each involving the drama and suspense of courtroom battle,  screened by Silversea in the Silver Spirit theatre.  On the day following each screening, we will gather for a talk about the film, including an interactive discussion. What does the film say about our vision of the American judicial system?  About justice?  About community values?  Does the film idealize lawyers or present a realistic picture of the courtroom experience?  What makes a legal drama so compelling?

He is an Adjunct Professor at Boston College Law School, where he has taught courses in Trial Advocacy and Dispute Negotiations for 30 years.  He was selected as a “Massachusetts Super Lawyer,” a peer-nominated designation recognizing outstanding professional achievement in the law.

Marty has lectured at the Harvard Law School Trial Advocacy Program and at Northeastern University.  Past President of the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, Marty currently presents the same Courtroom Cinema program at life-long learning programs at Harvard University and Brandeis University.  These courses are consistently oversubscribed, due in part to Marty’s dynamic and inclusive teaching style.
