Born and raised in Australia, Ian Denton has found himself doing what he loves! After 30 years working in Australia and Canada in the high end of the computer industry for such major companies as IBM, Sperry & Hitachi Ian now spends a good part of his time working on Silversea ships.
Ian likes to paint pictures with words, encouraging his audiences to experience their cruise using all of their senses: not just seeing, but also listening, smelling, touching, tasting and feeling. His responses to questions are usually detailed and he is rarely lost for words discussing a broad spectrum of topics with anyone who is prepared to participate.
When asked how he came to work on ships he says the word “serendipity” comes to mind. At a crossroads in his life, fate intervened and Ian boarded his first ship, Holland America’s old and graceful Noordam on his birthday in December 2003. Since that fortuitous day Ian says “I feel as though I am living a dream”.
Ian used to describe himself as something of an albatross, a bird that spends the majority of its life roaming the oceans of the world, but these days he lives on the east coast of his native Australia. Ian has two children, Mike, a physical fitness practitioner in Washington DC and Sarah, a Veterinarian Technician in Toronto, Canada.
Ian Denton is scheduled to sail on the following voyages (subject to change):
