Armadale, Isle of Skye
The small village of Armadale can be found near the southern end of the Isle of Skye in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. The stunning ruins of Armadale Castle, destroyed by a fire in the 19th century, are still a major attraction to the area. Some tracts of the impressive gardens can be visited and offer lovely woodland walks to be taken. Housed within the restored original stables is the Stables Café, which has some of the best home-baking in the area. South of the Sabhal Mòr Ostaig Gaelic College is the seat of Clan Donald Skye. The Clan Donald Centre has an award-winning museum which tells the dramatic story of the Clan Donald (or MacDonalds) in the context of 1500 years of the history of the Highlands and Islands.
