Located in the Halmahera Sea, Alyui is the westernmost bay of Waigeo, one of the four major islands in the Raja Ampat National Park. The remote nature of Alyui Bay provides the area with sheltered waters outside the cyclone belt. Thanks to relatively stable water temperatures, good water quality, and plenty of nutrients, the embayments here are ideally suited to oyster growth. Several major pearl growing sites can be found in this stunning setting. In addition to oysters, the area is known for elusive dugong, pods of frolicking dolphin, primeval looking Blyth’s Hornbills, soaring Brahminy Kites and White-bellied Sea Eagles.
