Portsmouth to Glasgow

 

 

Day 1 - May 19, 2012 - Portsmouth, England  

There was quite a crowd on the top deck to watch Portsmouth become a mere dot on the horizon.

Day 2 - May 20, 2012 - Lyme Regis, UK 

Most of our group took the opportunity to take the morning bus tour to see the beautiful Abbotsbury Gardens and Swannery where hatching cygnets were charming to watch.

Day 3 - May 21, 2012 - Dartmouth, Devon, UK 

The ship was moored up along the River Dart with the fabulously scenic town of Dartmouth right beside us.

Day 4 - May 22, 2012 - Tresco & St. Mary’s, Isles of Scilly, England 

Today’s tour was, at least for me, one of the top highlights of our voyage up the coast of Great Britain and Ireland – the Abbey Gardens of Tresco on the Isles of Scilly.

Day 5 - May 23, 2012 - Waterford, Ireland 

Our guests enjoyed a stroll through these magnificent gardens and absorbed this magical piece of garden heaven.

Day 6 - May 24, 2012 - Glengarriff, Ireland 

We stood outside in the sun sipping drinks, discussing the day and admiring the lovely green landscape around us as the ship slowly sailed back out of Bantry Bay. A few seals and dolphins were spotted on the way.

Day 7 - May 25, 2012 - Galway, Ireland 

Kylemore Abbey is in a beautiful setting and the place has been occupied since 1920 by Benedictine nuns who were much in evidence.

Day 8 - May 26, 2012 - Killybegs, Ireland 

On the way to the village we had two photo stops to enjoy the picturesque landscape of Donegal Region, and of course, the absolute stunning day with sunshine and 24 degrees temperature.

Day 9 - May 27, 2012 - Rathlin Island/Portrush, Northern Ireland 

Sitting High on a cliff just east of Portrush, the castle commanded a fabulous view across to the distant Scottish mainland and islands.

Day 10 - May 28, 2012 - Staffa and Iona, Inner Hebrides, Scotland 

Early Christianity spread through Northern Britain from this remote island community and we could visit the fascinating Abbey – one of Scotland’s most sacred and historical sites.

Day 11 - May 29, 2012 - Brodick, Isle of Arran, Scotland 

Outside the castle there are many walks through the grounds, which are laid out as both formal gardens and as more natural woodland.
