Puerto Caldera to Colon

 

 

Day 1 - March 28, 2012 - Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica 

For some it had been a long day, but everybody enjoyed the chance to savor some culinary delicacies and special wines while the Silver Explorer set sail.

Day 2 - March 29, 2012 - Quepos, Costa Rica 

At the beginning, the river arm was wide and the mangrove was just a green stripe on the horizon, but soon the boat sailed into smaller channels of this ecosystem and the beautiful mangrove trees were now close enough to observe the different adaptations to this special environment.

Day 3 - March 30, 2012 - Golfo Dulce 

The Sanctuary is owned by Carol Crews and among the animals she has rescued and keeps at the center are sloths, capuchin monkeys, a tyra, a great cassowary, scarlet macaws, and two spider monkeys, Sweetie and Winkie.

Day 4 - March 31, 2012 - Coiba, Panama

Our landing today was at Isla de Coiba and the tiny island of Granito de Oro (translated as “Little Grain of Gold”).

Day 5 - April 1, 2012 - Darién Jungle, Panama 

We were greeted by the local Emberá people who are dressed in colourful skirts and have impressive tattoos all over their mostly naked bodies.

Day 6 - April 2, 2012 - Fuerte Amador, Panama City

By mid-morning we moved to the “Casco Antiguo”, the oldest and colonial part of Panama City, which was nearby a small commercial harbor and fish market.
