Day 1 - March 16, 2012 - Callao, Peru
Callao is not the most picturesque port, but the mackerel sky turned red as the sun set slowly while the ship pulled away from the dock. (read more)

Day 2 - March 17, 2012 - At Sea en route to Salaverry, Peru
As we continued our tour, we saw Humboldt Penguins sheltering in the cool shade of a small sea cave, Inca Terns clinging to the steepest of all the cliff edges, and a large colony of Guanay Cormorants covering one entire hilltop (read more)

Day 3 - March 17, 2012 - Salaverry
The ruins of Chan Chan extend over 20 square kilometers and most of it looks like an undulating sand-scape of raised mounds and depressions, some large and some small. (read more)

Day 4 - March 19, 2012 - Isla Lobos de Tierra
The island is a wildlife sanctuary populated by just two park guards watching over the island but accompanied by over 100,000 blue-footed boobies. (read more)

Day 5 - March 20, 2012 - Guayaquil, Ecuador
Plaza de las Iguanas was, of course, polulated by large number of iguanas that offered a funny attraction, with many iguanas feeding on the ground or resting on the trees. (read more)

Day 6 - March 21, 2012 - Guayaquil, Ecuador
The property covers some 700 acres, and is mainly used for growing cacao, mangos, and some hardwood. (read more)

Day 7 - March 22, 2012 - Isla de la Plata, Ecuador
But of course the vegetation was not the main attraction on this island; the birds are the main reason to come here – especially the Blue Footed Booby and the Magnificent Frigate Bird.

Day 8 - March 23, 2012 - At sea, en route to Isla Coiba, Panama
Our guests are doing an incredible job with the weather! The Pacific Ocean is flat calm and hardly shows any waves. (read more)

Day 9 - March 24, 2012 - Coiba, Panama
The first is that we get to add another country onto our itinerary as we are now visiting Panama and this visit is to Coiba and the little island of Granito de Oro.

Day 10 - March 25, 2012 - Golfito, Costa Rica
With her came a very unusual greeting committee... several spider monkeys, which were definitely the heroes of the day.

Day 11 - March 26, 2012 - Drake Bay and San Josesito Beach
We were lucky enough to enlarge our wildlife list by spotting a Three-toed Sloth and Scarlet Macaws in the wild. (read more)

Mangroves are fragile ecosystems where mixing waters of the ocean and the rivers make a unique place for the development of a diverse wildlife.
