Day 2 - February 20, 2012 - Drake Passage en route to Antarctica

Unlike our typical snail-pace through the Drake Passage, the Silver Explorer is making excellent time today.

Day 3 - February 21, 2012 - Barrientos Island, South Shetland Islands

But although they look almost like the adults, they still act like chicks – very curious and a bit silly.

Day 4 - February 22, 2012 - Brown Bluff, Antarctic Peninsula; Antarctic Sound

But as it was a blue clear sky, the sunrise over Brown Bluff was just spectacular.

Day 5 - February 23, 2012 - Cuverville Island & Neko Harbour

As we were sailing in, we enjoyed an incredible and beautiful alpine landscape: monumental glaciers ending in the sea, steep and sharp mountains peaks, and lots of icebergs floating in perfectly still water.

Day 6 - February 24, 2012 - Port/landing Petermann Island/Pléneau Island

With its mix of ornithology, geology, history and botany – Petermann Island is a wonderful stop.

Day 7 - February 25, 2012 - Port Lockroy and Base Brown, Paradise Bay

When the guests came ashore they were full of stories of the Leopard Seals and Humpback Whales they had seen as well as the spectacular scenery.

Day 8 - February 26, 2012 - Deception Island, South Shetland Islands, Antarctica

Today’s wonderful landing not only concludes this voyage but sadly also finishes Silversea’s 2011 – 2012 season in the Antarctic.

Day 9 - February 27, 2012 - At Sea, en route to Ushuaia, Argentina 

Always a strange feeling when suddenly a trip comes to an end. Once again the time has passed so fast over the last 9 days.

Day 10 - March 22, 2012 - At Sea in the Drake Passage, en route to Ushuaia

There has been some recent snowfall here, and the backdrop of mountaintops was tipped with white snow, which glistened as the sun set and night fell.
