Co-ordinates: 64° 09`N, 21° 56`W
Weather: sunny, partly overcast
Air Temperature: 13°C
On a sunny afternoon in Reykjavik our embarkation started punctually at 12 o’clock. The guests arrived during the whole afternoon and at 16.00, boarding of all our guests for the Voyage 7120 from Reykjavik to Montreal was finished. During embarkation I was handing out the keycards for the suites to the guests, and explaining to them the program and activities for the afternoon on the first day of this cruise.
Shortly after boarding was finished, our Expedition Leader Conrad Combrink announced through the PA system our sail away from Reykjavik and the Silver Explorer set course for our next destination – Greenland. My colleagues and I were out together with the guests on the open deck enjoying the sunny afternoon as we sailed away from Iceland. At 17.30 the first and only duty for our guests started – the obligatory Emergency Drill.
Embarkation day finished, as usual, first with the introduction of some heads of department and the Expedition Team, and second, as always, with an excellent dinner in The Restaurant.
