Day 1 - February 11, 2011 - Ushuaia, Argentina

Day 2 - February 12, 2011 - Drake Passage en route to Antarctica
After a great lunch, which I had at the Outdoor Grill taking advantage of the beautiful sunny day and calm conditions, we all got together in The Theatre for two mandatory briefings.

Day 3 - July 13, 2010 - Barrientos Island (Aitcho Islands), South Shetland Islands
All around, gentoo penguin chicks chased their parents, begging for food. At the water’s edge they usually gave up their endeavours, aware that their down feathers were by no means waterproof.

Day 4 - February 14, 2011 - Brown Bluff, Antarctica
Captain Golubev took the Prince Albert II from one tabular iceberg to the next, and the morning was spent looking for interesting photo motifs.

Day 5 - February 15, 2011 - Cuverville Island & Port Lockroy
The evening schedule was a work in progress, with frequent revisions by Robin, who had the job of getting everyone through dinner in time for the spectacular cruise of the Lemaire Channel, probably the finest scenery in the Peninsula with its combination of narrow straight and mountains straight out of Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings.

It is a truly exceptional place made even better by the snow painting the landscape white.

Day 7 - February 17, 2011 - Pleneau Island and Neko Harbour
The variety of colour of the icebergs from palest white to the deepest blue was amazing.

Day 8 - February 18, 2011 - At sea in the Drake Passage – en route to Ushuaia
Afterwards, a few intrepid guests made their way out to the back deck with Will, our birder, to watch the beautiful antics of the petrels and albatrosses that were flying just off the stern of our ship.

Despite the bumpy ride it was not as rough as expected according to the weather forecast, but still rough enough to consider the Drake Tax paid!

Day 10 - February 20, 2011 - Ushuaia, Argentine Tierra del Fuego
Robin then auctioned off a nautical chart detailing our voyage and uniquely crafted with the artist flair of our on board Hairstylist, Marianne.
