Day 7 - March 15, 2010 - Day At Sea

The guests and I were observing how easily and without flapping his wings a Wandering Albatross was making his way over the sea, just admiring how well adapted these birds are to natural conditions.

Day 8 - March 16, 2010 - At Sea, On Route To South Georgia

Juvenile Wandering Albatross flirted with the ships railings in almost a game of chicken while Antarctic Fur Seals leapt from the sea around us.

Day 9 - March 17, 2010 - South Georgia

The beautiful and inquisitive king penguins slowly and cautiously wandered up to everyone for closer inspection and to pose for photos.

Day 10 - March 18, 2010 - Underway In Cumberland East Bay, South Georgia Island En Route Sandebugten

This 8+ Km journey is both challenging but also spectacular in its interior view of South Georgia Island, something rarely seen by anyone.

Day 11 - March 19, 2010 - South Georgia (Salisbury Plain Am, Prion Island Pm)

Prion Island was one of those places in the world that I had been longing to visit for a very long time, and my experience here today, as well as that of all the guests, far exceeded my expectations.

Day 12 - March 20, 2010 - At Sea, En Route To The Falkland Islands

After a couple of very busy days in South Georgia, with quite early starts, today was a great opportunity to sleep in, enjoy a late breakfast, relax and enjoy the onboard lecture program.

Day 13 - March 21, 2010 - At Sea, En Route To Falkland Islands

On our stay in Grytviken, South Georgia, we picked up Hayley Shephard, Beth-Ann Masselink and Bridget Steed as guests on board.

Day 14 - March 22, 2010 - At Sea

With the sun shinning again I joined several guests on the outside decks to watch as seabirds followed in our wake enjoying the last of the day’s light.

Day 15 - March 23, 2010 - Port Stanley

We approached Port Stanley in the early morning hours and the Captain brought the Prince Albert II through “The Narrows”, a very small gap leading into the inner harbour.

Day 16 - March 24, 2010 - Underway Between Saunders Island And West Point Island, Falkland Islands

The nesting colonies are located on the other side of the island and can be reached by a relatively easy 2 Km hike that rises over the center of the island with outstanding views in all directions.
