Welcoming our guests back on board after a repositioning trip made us feel like we were back to doing what we do best! After saying good bye to guests in Callao, we spent the last few days busy preparing and maintaining the ship. And now it is time to get back to our business of guiding guests around the world!
All went well on this glorious sunny day. All guests had arrived by 4pm ready to begin our expedition voyage along the coast of Chile onboard the Silver Explorer.
Afternoons on embarkation days are fairly standard as we need to get through many of the mandatory meetings required by international maritime law – Mandatory Safety Drill at 16:15 where everyone gathers in The Theatre and listens to a brief outline of the safety procedures on the ship, then they try on the bright orange lifejackets and the crew escorts the guests out to the lifeboat muster stations so that everyone has a good idea of what would take place in the event of an emergency onboard.
At 18:45, the final event of the evening was held, once again in The Theatre – the Staff Introductions. Heads of Departments were brought up on stage and introduced to the new guests. This was followed by the Expedition Team introductions. Some of the team members are new to me and I am super excited to get started on this adventure with our new guests and team!
