We had a busy day in prospect, as we said good bye to our departing guests who had shared our previous odyssey between Norway and Iceland, and welcomed our new travelling companions. Embarkation began around noon and was completed by about 4pm and I was involved in the first part of this process, welcoming guests to our vessel and advising them of the initial activities (primarily lunch following the formal security and health documentation).

At 5pm we assembled in The Theatre, our Muster Station, for the Mandatory Safety Drill. This was followed by an introduction to all department heads and then the Expedition Team introduced themselves and their specific spheres of expertise, which will be under the efficient control of Robin West the Expedition Leader.

Cast off from the berth was at 7pm and we gathered on deck, drinks in hand, to watch the lovely city recede in the distance. Our adventure had begun....
