Dr. Colleen Batey, Historian

Dr Colleen Batey is Senior Lecturer in Archaeology at the University of Glasgow. In the arena of Viking and Late Norse Culture of the North Atlantic and Scotland, Colleen has both excavation and publication experience. A graduate of the University of Durham, Colleen has held lectureships in the University of Leeds and University College London before taking up the post of Curator of Archaeology at Glasgow Museums, the largest Metropolitan Museum service in the UK. She was the British advisor for the Smithsonian Institute Vikings North Atlantic Saga exhibit that toured widely in the US and Canada. More recently she has also held the post as Finds Research Manager for the Archaeological Institute of Iceland. Colleen has lectured and travelled widely in the British Isles, Scandinavia and North America, as both expedition staff and guest lecturer.
