Silvia Panchana, Naturalist Guide

Silvia Panchana was born in Switzerland and arrived in the Galapagos Islands in 1984 after traveling in South America for 8 months; she fell in love with the unique islands and was amazed by the pristine environment.


Her dream was to work as a guide and to participate in the protection of the island to make sure that the visitors from around the world can explore the beauty of the Galapagos Islands and learn about the amazing ecosystems.
The dream came true, and to work as a guide for many years has been a privilege and an opportunity to meet people from different countries and to be able to exchange experiences and learn about our planet every day.

The Galapagos is not only a special Natural Paradise – to her it is important for the conservation of this unique ecosystem to include its human inhabitants. She feels that all stakeholders who derive economic benefits from using this ecosystem seek a balance between the need for conservation and the need for ensuring a sustainable and dignified human existence in the Galapagos.
