Captain Alexander Golubev
Alexander Golubev started his career in 1977 as a sailor onboard the sea-tug Statniy in the Laptev Sea (Arctic Ocean), where he gained his first ice-navigating experience. He later attended both the Odessa Marine College and Odessa Marine Academy, completing his marine studies in 1989.
Captain Golubev became an Officer in 1980, Chief Mate in 1991 and Captain in 1995. His first command was the cruise ship MV Calypso and since then he has sailed many times around the world on both expedition vessels and cruise ships, visiting locations as diverse as French Polynesia, the Amazon and the Chilean Fjords.
With over 50 voyages to the Antarctic, Arctic and Greenland, Captain Golubev is a highly experienced Ice Master. When not at sea, he returns to his hometown of Odessa, Ukraine.
