Next, a photo stop is made at the spectacular Congress Building, the pride of Uruguay. Afterward, visit the Prado neighbourhood for a photo stop at the sculpture of the Stagecoach, or 'La Diligencia', the Charruas Indian Monument and the Rose Garden. A photo stop is then made at the Batlle and Ordoñez Park area, site of the Obelisk, Covered Wagon, or 'La Carreta' Monument, and the Soccer Stadium. From here, drive through the Carrasco area and stop for photos at the Plaza Virgilio, home of the Fallen Soldiers of the Navy Monument and excellent views of the city.

Your last stop is at Pittamiglio Castle, an early-20th-century castle built by noted engineer, architect and alchemist Humberto Pittamiglio. It consists of 54 rooms, 33 doors, a 148-foot (45-metre) tower, 23 fortified towers of different sizes, and stairs leading to nowhere. Your visit concludes with a glass of champagne and a tango dancing demonstration before commencing the brief drive back to the pier.

The area is notable for its very hot summers and plentiful sunlight. Added to this, sparse annual rainfall has encouraged the use of artificial irrigation creating perfectly tended oases of plentiful fruit.

End your tour with lunch and a visit at the Pulenta Estate.  Here, the 135 hectare-vineyard grows at 980 metres (3,215 feet) above sea level and enjoys an extraordinary climate and huge temperature ranges, all of which create favourable conditions for viticulture.

The vines, which were brought from France and Italy and planted by Antonio Pulenta, flourish at the feet of the mountains.  Meltwater flowing from higher elevations irrigates the Estate and its purity is reflected in the vigour, intensity and freshness of the fruit.
