CPT-FWC A Night in the Winelands - A Full World Cruise Event
Departure: April 4, 2013
Duration: 1.5 Days / 1 Night
Re-join ship: April 5, 2013 in Cape Town
DAY ONE - Thursday, April 4, 2013 Cape Town / Winelands
Departing the ship, a scenic drive of approximately one hour takes you to the small town of Franschhoek. Nestled between towering mountains in the beautiful Cape Winelands, Franschhoek is proud of its heritage and fame as the food and wine heartland of the country.
Visit the Huguenot Museum and view exhibits illustrating the history of the French Huguenots who settled in this valley more than 300 years ago. They brought with them their age-old French wine and food culture and the desire for a better life. Adjacent to the Museum stands the Huguenot Monument dedicated to those brave pioneers and the cultural influence they brought to the Cape Colony. Many of the wine estates still bear their original French names and the wines produced in the Cape are renowned worldwide.
Enjoy free time to explore fairy-tale Franschhoek with its Cape Dutch, Georgian, and Victorian style houses. The main street features wonderful crafts, art and antique shops.
Next, proceed to the Allée Bleue Estate, where wine tasting and a picnic lunch await. The estate is one of the oldest in the Cape. Its white, thatched buildings are surrounded by fields of lavender, orchards, and vineyards.
After lunch, drive to Stellenbosch, South Africa's oldest town after Cape Town. A sightseeing drive meanders through oak- lined streets bordered by historic buildings that date back to the early 1700s. Its university is internationally known and provides world class education.
Conclude your introduction to Stellenbosch at one of the Winelands' luxury hotels. Check-in and take time to relax before heading out to your dinner venue. Your arrival is timed to enjoy glorious views at sunset while sipping a pre-dinner cocktail followed by a sumptuous gala dinner and accompanied by award-winning wines from the Dieu Donné Wine Estate. If the mood strikes you, take your partner for a dance to the sounds of a Marimba band.
The evening concludes with the transfer back to the hotel.

DAY TWO - Friday, April 5, 2013 Winelands / Cape Town
