Dr. Peter Crimes recently retired as Director of the Geography and Geology Honors Department of Liverpool University. He has published over 60 papers in international scientific journals with co-authors drawn from 15 countries. Peter has also engaged in research projects in 27 countries and has lectured in over 30 countries, including many of the world’s foremost universities such as Berkeley, Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge. Television and radio have also commanded Peter’s attention. Peter was a scientific advisor to the National Science Foundation of America, Royal Society, Natural Environmental Research Councils of Canada and the UK, and the Academies of Sciences of Sweden, China, Russia and Argentina. He produced a 45-minute primetime programme for BBC TV entitled “Pompeii – City of the Dead”, as well as appearing many times on BBC and ITV newscasts.
